Maybe you don't get the concept... You have to already have high speed internet service to use VOIP, so why would you want to use your high speed service to connect to a low speed dial-up service for a modem connection?

I had the same thought, figuring maybe I can find a "cheaper" way to hook my old stander phones to my computer

u can't use a voip box for a dial up modem. it doesn't support dial-up. Broad band connection with pppoe,dhcp and static only supports voip.
