I never started. And I don't have plans to...

My mother died of cancer, she had it in every major organ in her body... and she never smoked a day in her life. The only thng that we can be sure of in life is the fact that we are going to die. The only thing that seperates us from anyone else, is the hour and the way. Im sorry that happened to you, but you really should not use it as a way to try and manipulate people into breaking an addiction that after a while causes them pain and problem in that they simply all on their own time, because no matter what...they can't quit no matter what happens to them, who guilts them or how much they suffer. My husband smokes and he is on two different inhalers for asthma... he has had it since he was born. Nothing I say, nothing I try and tell him can help him to stop. it is an addiction... Most addictions do end up killing people. and maybe, just maybe, all they are doing in the end is hastening the inevitable.

My mother smoked a pack and a half a day from the time she was 13 until she was in her 60's. She ended up with cancer. She asked the doctor if smoking did it, and he said no. But that smoking did not help. She walked out of the office and pulled out her cigarettes. She pulled one out, looked at it, and threw the pack away. She never touched another. And lived with my dad, that DID smoke that much as well. He never quit, and had a lower lobe removed due to cancer. He died from hardening of the arteries and lack of circulation due to smoking.

I was never tempted to smoke. I never liked the smell of my father's Camels. He died of lung cancer when he was 63 years old.

I don't smoke. Sadly most people enjoy it or are so addicted that they would risk the chance of cancer and death. Glad to hear you have survived this ordeal.
