Slash's opening riff in "Sweet Child of Mine" by GNR is one of the greatest ever in my opinion. Just hearing that song start makes me stop what I'm doing and take it in. Sweet rock.

Yes. In fact, I prefer some instrumentals that are essentially nothing but very long guitar solos (Cliffs of Dover springs immediately to mind).
