  • LONG! Right well Marxism has several sub strands but they are all loosely based on Karl Marx's theories. He believed that capitalism would eventually destroy itself and that the working classes around the world would overthrow the Bourgeoisie (middle class) and then form a dictatorship on behalf of the people end class oppression take over the means of production, kill all counter revolutionaries and then the state would wither away everyone would be friends and live happily ever after thus achieving full communism. All industries and property are state owned on behalf of the people. Although there are also revisions of his theories the most notable being Marxist-Leninism , Stalinist Leninism/marxism and Maoism. Communism is basically what all of these ideologies aim for. (although not all wanted to get rid of the state and some such as stalin just wanted power). Then you have your democratic socialists and social democrats as well as the "third way" (the UK labour party). Basically social democrats wanted the same ends as Marxists/communists but via democratic means as they believed that they would win the votes since the working class was so large and there ideas or morally superior to say conservatism and liberalism. They pretty much flopped. Then the democratic socialists come along and decide that some of the means need to be changed such as having a mixed economy and limited capitalism. The third way accept capitalism and are more regulatory than interventionist. THIS IS VERY BRIEF CONSIDERING THE QUESTION.
