I have a home theater system woth a panasonic receiver. it does not have a mic (mike) input. can i use a mixer connected to one of the inputs( phono, vcr 2,etc with a mic.

You probably cannot use the mixer on the Phono input, as it may have a Phono preamp built in which will cause nasty things to happen, but you can use any other unused input, such as VCR2 like you mentioned. This is the perfect solution to your problem.
