Help answer this question below.
Depends.
Per paragraph 6 of the TOU (Terms of Use...see link at bottom of page) specifically does not allow harrassing behavior:
"...untrue, misleading, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, invasive to another person's privacy or protected data, hateful, or racially or otherwise objectionable."
But the minor silly name calling that might occur between friends or in an obviously sarcastic manner that is clearly NOT meant to be insulting...those usually get glossed over.
A good rule of thimb is the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And NO cursing!
If you find yourself receiving such material, and it's truely offensive, you have every right to submit feedback to the staff and complain. You will find the feedback link at the bottom of the page also. It will automatically forward the permalink to the question/answer you clicked the feedback link from. Fill it out in detail explaining the problem. They will investgate and take appropriate action.
A last note here: If you are around Answerbag (AB) long enough, you will become aquainted with a few people whose goal in life seems to be to get a rise out of other people by insults or lots of DRs (downrates). Do not allow yourself to sink to their depths. Just drop the issue completely, if necessary. If their behavior is unwarranted, it will be obvious to the rest of us, no matter what the other person says or does.
And WELCOME TO ANSWERBAG!
They could, but I cant hear what they call me because my spyware that taps into their homes doesnt recieve well in Kuwait, but when I get home, and review the tapes I am shaving their fore arms for revenge
If it's on the offensive or rude side, you may be asked to stop it and if you don't, or it's offensive enough and you continue doing it, the person could be penalty boxed and the posts deleted. SO no, you aren't allowed to call people names here. Namecalling is probably the second most common reason for getting into the Penalty box.
I'm not sure about how it works, but you could report it to a CL or you could copy the link and send to the staff - go to feedback at the bottom of the page.
Here is how it works. You are allowed to bash manly man and girly girls. But you can't bash gays, minorities, tomboys, and girly men.
Of course they can-- unless you are anonymous.
No , and it is childish and ignorant to so do.
If it is offensive then the person can be warned or penalty boxed. If they continue there is always a lifetime ban which seems to have happened on more occasions than we know judging by the amount of people that have disappeared over the last few months.
I have had someone on AB who called me a name that doesnt even know me. I have a pretty good head on my shoulder's or so I've been told and this person said quite the opposite. Funny,a person thinks they know you by one answered or asked question.
What do you think Chuckles?
Do those who insult the Question/Questioner realize they are also insulting those who answer the question sincerely? Or are they clueless?
