I really like to help people, that is the main reason that I am here. However, I must confess that my deeper insatiable ego craves the times when the other baggers condescend by sometimes showering me with points. So I will sometimes shoot out questions to draw more points. There it is, I am clean, now I feel better. I used to ask some garbage questions that the answerbag admins couldn’t even understand so they blew them up and removed them. It took me a while to learn how to craft questions that meet the high standards of this site:) I even keep a pad around most of the time because my best ideas for questions some when I am no where near a computer. Another additional benefit of this site is that you learn how to be a better speller. The ratings nazis mark you down if you misspell a word, so you learn to be careful here.

A little bit of both. I find it stimulating and challenging to helps others, but at the same time there are times I hope to get points.
-
Well I think I've gotten cured of the quest for points per-se, but I still do like to see my answers end up near the top of the list, which is different than just accumulating points on my account. However, I don't answer questions just to see my name at the top of the list -- there has to be some other factor: wanting to help, having something I want to say, finding the question interesting, etc. -- I'm always trying to produce some sort of outcome.

Points are just numbers. I do get annoyed when I get downrated anonymously for an opinion or on a provable, documented fact (like the value of pi), but that is basically on principle.
-
I look for things that I think I'd want to know, then I ask- for me, or for others that I think might want to know too, because, often, I think what I've learned might be interesting for others to know too. OMG- I'm starting to sound like ellen D. Have to go to bed ppl. BTW- sure, I love points! they are fun to get, fun to give, and occasionally, fun to scroll by and withhold... As for TAKING points- I try not to unless the question is just really offensive. I try to ignore ppl I'm ticked at and the incredibly stupid. Sometimes, though, you just cant. ONE thing- if I found something worthy of reading, commenting on, or answering, I usually give points for it. Why don't ppl give them to questions they took the time to answer? Yeah, I like the points...

I admit I like the points system, but I really try and answer the questions in a helpful manner, and as for the questions I ask, I try to ask provacative, mind stimulating, and sometimes difficult ones.
-
I like to help others. I don't really care about the points, but I do like to give my opinion (take it or leave it).
-
Well sometimes to help and sometimes for points a lot of people never think about that until someone asks that.
-
To help others.
-
I think I prefer answering. Asking a question needs too much of my brain energy, too much of it.
-
both XD
-
both. i like helping other people and i love getting points. However it really is something to do for me like right now. i have another hour to waste so i like finding questions and seeing other people's answers about stuff i dont know much about.
-
A little of both. I like to do research and share knowledge, but the points are a giddy addiction.
-
I like to help.
-
Usually just to answer the question. I do however go out of my way not to answer certain questions so as to avoid losing points. Weighing in on God, guns, etc. These are sure ways to get Bagslapped.
-
well im new to this site and still dont get the pooooooints thing<< yahhh and frankly i jus think the questions are intresting (;
-
I am here for the discussions but i don't mind accumulating points too
-
Points don't matter to me. I am enjoying the Q&A's. There are some great people here, although I only have 1 friend on my list. A lot of good wisdom, good humor, and so much fun. Thanks, all!
-
I care about points to the extent that they show me how helpful I am being or how much people enjoy my questions, answers, and general presence in the AB community.
-
I like to answer and ask, its fun. The points are a kick, like the cherry on top of the sunday!!!
-
I enjoy accumulating points, but I am not driven by it. I think this is evidenced by the amount of commenting I do - I haven't done an analysis, but I bet my ratio of comments to answers is close to one. Having said that, I find negative pointage, particularly on opinion questions, to be extremely frustrating.
-
I care about points. It shows that other ABers like my answers, and I appreciate that! I also like answering questions and asking them! I love comments too!
-
well just started today so not many points yet but I do love answering questions and perhaps help someone along the way and make a friend or two. I am sure the points will add up as time passes all by themselves.
-
I always ask questions that I want to know about. Just not always something that I "really" want to know about.
-
I ask because I want to know something... except for the fun ones but never for points.
