  • There really aren't TOO many differences. Everyone has seen Christian funeral so I'm not going to dive into that, but a Muslim burial is similar with the exception of preparation. The body of the Muslim is washed in scented water similar to ablution and wrapped in a white shroud and then taken to the place where people are already praying. Muslims don't get cremated as we see fire and burning to be God's punishment (hell) so we don't encourage that upon ourselves on earth. Aside from that, just friends and family and community members praying and saying goodbye.
  • The Muslims have to bury the deceased within 24 hours after death. If a wife dies then only the husband can wash her body and vise-versa.All bodies are washed by the family and members of the commuinity, and after washing the deceased is wrapped in a white funeral shroud which is tied at the head and feet. When the body is taken to the graveside only the men can accompany it.In the west it can cause problems when someone dies on the weekend because a death certificate has to be issued.
