Yes, people these days are often very selfish and are encouraged by society to be that way. Sure, you need to look out for your own welfare but not to the extent where you're continually pushing down other people.

Not overrated. Number 1 is number 1 for a reason. Everyone else is inferior.

Its complicated. Of course your own health comes first because you need that for everything. On the other hand if you are outgoing, unselfish and do things for others it brings you more happiness. For relationships and the closest friendships you need to sometimes do all thats in your power for them for a better relationship and of course because you love them and want to be a loving type of person. On the other hand you need strict psychological rules so you can switch over to when you think about yourself again otherwise people can take advantage of your good nature - often without them realising they are doing it. If you wear your heart on your sleave and do not know where to draw the line you may be tossed from one emotional endevour to another and forget who you truely are.
