I think it's part of requirement, but it can depend on what state you live
-
no and it's a good thing cause to this day, I still wouldn't be driving
-
yep. All us old folks needed to perfom that task. Why, can you not park like that.
-
In Texas it is. I failed the first time because of that!
-
Yes, and I passed
-
i havn't take mine yet but its not required we just have to know how to do a three point turn or something
-
Yes, though I try not to do it nowadays if I can help it.
-
Yep I did it only once and that was for the test. Never been able to do it again. :(
-
i don't it is well @ least where i'm from it's not but you prob still have to do really well on everything else
-
yes
-
Yes it was and thanks to a dear friend's help, I passed that part brilliantly.
-
I have been driving since 1952 and yes, it was part of the test back then, too.
-
Nope. Just had to drive round the block. Back in the days when seat belts weren't even required. Even had brakes that had to be pumped. Lol, the cop almost fell into the floor board.
-
I believe it's required for every state, except my friend said that some state (I'm thinking it was Kansas) doesn't require it.
-
Yes, but it currently isn't in the state of CT.
-
Yes it was , as was the three point turn which is no longer required. As long as you can turn the car it does not matter how many attempts it takes. It is a joke to say that they are trying to make the roads safer when the tests are getting so much easier.
-
Yes. Interestingly, it was the easiest form of parking for me. Don't ask me why...
-
Yup, and I barely passed. I still have a panic attack when i have to parallel park and I live in Chicago, AKA parallel park center
-
Yes. No truoble Good jobn they didn't test my typing
-
Yes, and they took us to the busiest, most aggressively driven shopping town of one way streets to practice. But I passed with flying colors.
-
Nope i got my license from Sears...seriously Sears driving school...it was in a room behind the kids clothes...it was part of the test but the instructor didn't make us do it
-
yes it was, that and handbrake starts in a manual car !! we have come a long way since, with latest cars having rear cameras on them, an dautomatic enginese that dont need handbrake starts !! :)
-
No, I wish it had been, I still circle around until I can find an end parking space or two empty spaces together.
-
Use to be, but most cities have done away with parallel parking.
-
For me it wasn't. I have been told that here they make some people do it and others not. I got lucky.
-
Sure was. Pretty stupid though because they made me parallel park behind a car that had no other cars near it!
-
I didn't have to, but I did have to hill park on a flat street.
-
Not when I took my test back in the 60's. It is now in the UK and some of the new drivers I see trying it still haven't a clue....
-
Yes, I passed!!!!:) years & years & years ago.
-
Not in 1957 in Iowa. I took a test again in Sioux Falls, SD when I changed residences and had to do a panic stop and a parallel parking to past the test. (The examiner was checking if my brakes held evenly and I had good reaction time in the panic stop.) He said I passed with a better score than most.
-
If you can parallel park a big rig or taxi a DC 10 you can drive anything.
-
Not necessarily, but you have to be able to do it.
-
Yes. I got my driver license over 12 years ago but since I drive a huge truck I don't parallel park and I know a lot of people that besides doing it for the test, have never done it since.
-
nope
-
It was, and it is one of the few things I just can't do. Fortunately, when I went for my test, the road was abandoned... It wasn't so much parallel parking as it was changing lanes and stopping.
-
yes and i hit the curb twice but still managed to pass
-
no, I had to do a 3-point turn instead. I did it in Arizona.
-
Yes, North Carolina.
-
yes.
-
Yes, for both my class C and CDL.
-
Yes. It was for me.
-
yes
-
yes.
-
Of course, yes...all 50 states does that.
-
Heh. Actually, I did it so well when he had us do it in class, that he didn't make me do it on the exam. Th next time I had to do it, it took me 10 minutes to figure out how. I was embarrassed.
-
Ya. But the test is easier than it is in normal circumstances. They don't want you to accidentally hit another car so they just have you pull up to a car on the side of the road and then pull in behind it. (in my experience at least) So you can go back as much as you need to do it properly.
