The FDA approved lasers for LASIK use in 1998. As of now, there are no long term studies about its effects. Since most people speak of the cons, I will mention the cons: Lasik can produced changes in the ability to see shades of gray. If the patients’ eye condition is incorrectly diagnosed, the patient might develop permanent debilitating visual symptoms such as glare, halos, or double vision after the operation. If you don’t have dry eye syndrome, you will probably develop one. It is uncomfortable, and permanent. Left untreated, it will be unhealthy for your corneas. It will feel like grit in your eyes. If you are farsighted, as you age, the benefits of LASIK will diminish with age, you’ll need glasses or contacts in the later years. Many patients experience significant improvement with their vision after LASIK. Your age, eye condition and health are serious considerations. You may still need to wear eyeglasses or contacts after the operation. Some people do not end up with 20/20 vision. Lasik was performed on airforce pilots for free. and they experienced multiple vision problems. PS I get my info from the eye surgeon I work with who has 30+ years experience.

there are many pros and cons but it depends on the individual. If you think u can deal with long term dry eyes and occasional blurred vision for being able to see without glasses then go for it.
