My kids always loved Hi Ho Cherry-O. It's perfect for a three year old & also teaches simple counting, number recognition and social skills. Chutes & Ladders and Candylandy are also fun games appropriate for pre-schoolers! I'm sure he'd enjoy any of the three.

Hi-Ho Cherry-O (although there are small pieces that can be a swollowing danger...check the box for the age range). Candy Land (of course). Shoots and Ladders. The match game is WONDERFUL! There are several others for this age - range that are fun and help with reading, taking turns, etc. all of which he'll need later in life.

Sorry or Monpoly.
