The waterfall or "v" lifecycle model is a method of software development. It is limited in that in its literal form it does not allow re-iteration or feedback into itself, and hence can prevent incorperation of lessons learnt during progression through it. Decent modern methods of software development allow feedback from later in the lifecycle to ealier points, to enable refinement once the system or software being developed is better understood.
