Yes, the guy I was speaking too wouldn't stop talking about the different kinds of fish he had at home.

Yeah I used to get caught in boring conversations and wouldn't know how to break away without being rude. Now I will step up, take the lead and do my best to make the conversation seem like it is coming to a natural end. If I really feel the need, I will even make up a reason to cut the conversation short, but I always try to leave the other person feeling better than before we began talking, as long as we aren't arguing or fighting about something.

Very often infact. I just make a few encouraging remarks to keep the conversation going. But I will be totally detached from the conversation. I will use the time for introspection. I wouldn't want to get out of the conversation unless I have some other pressing matter to attend to. These are the times allowed to us for thinking and studying people and their mindsets. And to study ourselfs.

Very often, I just keep smiling, the customer can't stay forever, after all the store does close at eight.

My co-worker engages me in conversations in which I have no knowledge on the subject... it usually has to do with him building his computer or discussing his paintball gear. It's not so much boring, but I have no understanding of what he is sayiing.

Yes, my mother-in-law talks for hours without taking a breath. I try to listen politely, but after awhile, my eyes roll back in my head and I don't hear it. Sometimes I get caught when she says, "What do you think?" Ooops - busted.
