Well since society hasn't been able to stop people from wanting to commit other crimes, I don't think it's possible.

You cant stop people from wanting to. But we can try to prevent them from doing it through tougher penalties.

i think computer cops and administrators should surround illegal things on the web with viruses so when people try to illegally do things their computer takes the punishment so they can't do it again

"...stop people from wanting....." A society, a group or a person cannot stop a person from wanting to do whatever they want to do. There are consequences, known and unknown for the actions people take. Behaviors can be encouraged and discouraged while the wanting in the person still exist. If a person has a self-persecution complex, punishment to this person may actually be their reward. So I would say we have to learn to listen more deeply to some of the core motivators in the crime-driven person.

Why do u want to get stopped computer crimes? If these crimes will be stopped, can you tell me where these big companies like Symantec and McAfee, who has billion dollar investment, will go? These computer crimes does not suck your blood compared to these big security providing companies. The hackers and crackers can give you best computer security cuz they know this all. But as we have given them name of Traitors, so they do according to their name.

Penalties for computer crimes are already to severe. Give the Crackers jobs protecting the systems for lots of money and have them crack others as part of a government think tank.

As long as society exists, and the computer exists, computer crimes are going to be inevitable. From a sociological, functionalist point of view, this kind of crime is even necessary in order for society to function properly.
