I burned the roof of my mouth on very hot soup last night. Is there anything I can do to make it hurt less, or help it heal faster?

Not really. the human mouth carries a lot of bacteria. best suggestion is a cool mint mouthwash.

It will heal in about 2-3 days, depending on the severity of the burn.

I do that a lot with Pizza, I hate the blistered skin feeling on the roof of my mouth.

After the initial burn, it's pretty well painless.

Basically, the skin shreds, peels off, and in about a week, I'm good to go again.

Try a teaspoon of Sugar or honey this is very soothing and will heal fast. Hold the Sugar in your mouth till either it dissolves or for a few minutes, with Honey you just coat your whole mouth with it by swishing it around your mouth like you would mouthwash but do not spit it out anything remaining just swallow after you have swished it around I would like to add that you should not drink for a few hours in order for both these remedies to work properly.

    Not really.

If it's especially painful, you could try some oral pain reliever (like ambesol I think?)... the kind of thing they sell to help with teething pain in babies.

But otherwise, you'll just have to wait a few days and it will go away.

Be happy that you burned your mouth and not your hand. It has been my experience that any injury inside my mouth heals 10 times quicker than any other body part. If I blister in my mouth, it's over in two days. If I blister on my foot, it takes 3 weeks to heal.

the sugar method works amazingly, it works because one of the active ingredients in sugar is a cleansing agent, and another is a soothing agent, which explains why in WWII they used it to treat war wounds :)

ahhh. i ate a really hot baked potatoe and i thought i couldnt burn the roof of my mouth, so once i realised that it was really hot i pushed it up there so not to burn my tongue! owwwiEEE! hurt like a bitch! i thought i was going to die! >.< then about 5 mins later it was a swollen puss-y blister and then the skin broke and it was a flap of skin it looked and felt gross. when i woke up the next day it felt a bit better. its now been 3 days and i tried the sugar method. seems to make it feel better or maybe its just because its so yummy :)

I went out with a friend last night and we got a little tipsy. Towards the end of the night we ordered some drunk munchie food and when it got there, I was so freakin' hungry I stuck a whole popper in my mouth which of course had just come out of the fryer.

Anyhow, it burned the ever loving sh!t out of the roof of my mouth but that's what I get for eating fried foods, right?

~Loved the honey and sugar method- Yum.
