The drums because they dictate the speed that the rest of the instruments will keep up with and therefore dictate the entire mood and tempo of the over all sound. The drummer may be tucked carefully away in the back, but he is the real frontman.

It depends on who's playing and what the song is. You could say drums, but songs like Asleep by the Smiths don't have drums.
