I worked on xmas day and new years day. is holiday pay at the employers discretion or is it a state law that holiday pay be offered?

    Unless your state law specifically says that people who work Christmas Day and New Year's Day must get paid extra, you work for the same wages as you normally would unless working those days pushes you over the 40 hours per week limit for overtime.
