Why do people put extra loud mufflers on their trucks/motorcycles or have a car stereo so loud I can feel it in my house as they drive by?

thats so stupid. Its not because we are selfish. I have a loud flowmaster exhaust and im proud of it. I also have a $1000 system in my truck. Ill admit, i like to show off, but its because I like the sound, and other people do too. I enjoy listening to other peoples exhaust. I like having contests to see which one sounds better. Id be glad to come over to your house and give you a taste of what some good ole american thunder is exactly. If you don't like a sweet soundin chevy truck with a nice rumble, you must be a communist. If its too loud, then your too old.

I've asked myself that every damn time an obnoxiously loud motorcycle drives by my house and wakes my baby up from her nap. She cries everytime she sees or hears a motorcycle now.

I am a female and I love a nice sound system. It is NOT about attention to me because I was in the country BY MYSELF and had it cranked up full blast. The music mixed with vibrations are very calming and can help you unwind. This is in my opinion. Some people like the sounds of nature I like the sounds of a roaring thunder. Its just a matter of personality.

Why does anyone do anything? I dont know but what i do know is that this is a free country and we have the right to do as we please.Now hope and peace have you ever takin that baby in to a resturant and half way through the meal had it cry and disrupted everyone in the place. I bet you have but does this mean that your a jerk maybe or maybe its your right to be there and have your baby cry. Now to everyone that thinks is dumb to have loud trucks and cars. Maybe we think its dumb to have expensive computers taking up all the space at the local coffee shop or its dumb to drive 75 in a 80. oh yea and what about yous on the bicycles on the sidewalk your where ever you feel like going that day This is dumb. Being considerate of others is not easy and does require personal sacrifice for the sake of others. It doesn't matter whether it's smoking in public, playing loud music, littering, loud exhaust, incessant barking from neighbors' dogs, the list goes on and on. The hardest thing to do is ask yourself honestly and objectively, "is my action going to adversely affect others?". If the answer is yes and you do it anyway, you are violating The Golden Rule. Think more of others and less of yourself. You will get more out of life in the long run and it's the key to living in harmony.

It's a free country and I should be free of having to listen to someone else's fecal music. I was tempted to put crap on a neighbor's front step and when they complained I would've said, "If I have to listen to yours, why are you complaining about stepping in mine!"

My Mama and my Pappa did not Love me and did not pay any attention to me, Now you have to. When I ride my Harley, everyone sees and hears me. Now I feel the Love. That is why I want to rev my Harley realy loud, so that you can pay attention to me. I feel realy good, when I make everyone around me look and notice me, that is why I ride a Harley. Because LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES! Too many times, I've almost been run over on my motorcycle by selfish cagers talking on their cellphones, reading the newspaper, or playing with the radio or a/c or whatever that wore too busy to notice me to care about you if you think it's too loud as long as that makes the damned driver pay attention to what he's doing and give me the right of way if i have it or stop behind me if i'm stoped at a stop sign!!!!!! So i guess you're the selfish one, for you prefer your silence over my safety!

It lets you know the economy is well and alive by having people have enough cash flow to do those types of things to their cars? :) or If they were going to rob you, they couldn't because you'd know they were there already...isn't that a positive? :)

It gives character. Not everyone goes around driving the same vehicle. People dont go around wearing the same style of clothes. People like different things. People have the right to do what they want and people have the right to think what they want so as long as they dont break the law about the only thing u can do is someday learn to understand more about it. I really do like the comment on loud pipes save lives..This is true . There is alot of ppl that really dont pay attention.

I heard about some study that said that people who drive around with their music blaring, and the bass turned way up didn't get enough hugs as kids... Something about the vibrations... Or maybe they just like loud music.

We have a Mechanics School where I live. My husband yells "TECHER POWER" whenever they go by with the loud mufflers. It is halarious.

The same reason some of you noise haters probably brag about your personal best MPG in your priuses and insights, or about the new nav system you installed, whose lawn is greaner, or who has the most SILENT HYBRID . Different things interest different people. If you dont like when someone's loud car/truck/motorcycle drives by your home, then ignore it. The loudest of civilian vehicles in the world can only be heard from probably about three to four miles away, so just ignore it until it passes. Now, i am going to go drive my Camaro and piss off some of you whiners.

Motorcyclists often have loud pipes in order to be better Heard. They are also required to burn headlights night and day.

upgrading your exhaust with an after market exhaust improves the breathing of your engine so its not working as hard and you get an increase in power and sometimes mpg. me personally i love the sound of a deep muscle car rumble. now i have a shirt that says "if its too loud, too bad" and im gonna follow that because i like my cars to be loud as hell and if you don't like it then don't drive next to me or you can turn up the volume on your stereo. you can't tell people how to drive there cars or what they can and can't put on there car just because you don't like it, if i want to run a loud exhaust on my car im going to and nobody can tell me to take if off. if i could i would just run straight pipes. i don't know how anyone could not like the sound of an american rumble rollin down the road.
