A stocker at a grocery store. That lasted all of 4 months. Because I was A. The new girl and B. A stocker--all the jobs no one else wanted to do got passed on to me. I got so tired of pulling everyone else's weight. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing my job, and doing it very well. I'll put all the effort in the world into MY job. It's when you are told to do someone else's job so they can go text message their boyfriend/girlfriend or go take an extra cigarette break that it gets annoying.

In my teens my 1st job was as a root beer mug washer at an A&W drive-in. (Guess my age is showing) Before that I had a paper route and mowed grass.

I worked at an indoor childrens play centre, doing parties. The kids weren't so bad, it was the snobby rich parents who hassled you to within an inch of your life because they wanted their "little angels" party to be perfect, even though the kids were too busy running around and having a great time minus the perfectly arranged cocktail frankfurts.

Harris Teeter, I worked as a 3rd shift stocker, and I got swimmers ear the week before, so it was pretty bad to have that pain, plus it was hard to get use to seeing my family having breakfast when I was having dinner and about to go to bed.

First job was as a cage cleaner at the local pet shop, then a packer at the local supermarket, then at the local laundry sorting sheets and then folding and packing when they came off the drying machine...hot and hard but the other workers were fun. Then I moved up to check-out chick at the local supermarket....all in 3 months

I was 15 and my sister was 21, she worked for a local theatre, that was held in a massive sized colorful tent called "in the round" and I got to be a "dresser" which meant, when the lights dimmed between acts, I had to run out and help the stars change their outfits, dresses, wigs and change and change FAST. I loved it, met lots of stars, partied and hated to go back to school when summer was over :(

Selling vegetables in the Farmers Market in Los Angeles. i made .75 an hour, which I thought was great because the minimum wage was .65 an hour. When I got a .10 raise I was rolling in dough. I thought. Then. (1950).

I was 16, and aside from a newspaper route and busgirl this was my first "real" job at a tobaccoist called "the transit shop" life was so different back then... Oddly enough I accidently set the place on fire. I had never seen an eddie match before so had no idea they self ignite, I was flicking it nervously beneath my nail while the boss showed me how to work the register. It went off on me, I screamed and shook my hand until it flew out from under my nail, but it landed in the tissue paper for gift wrapping. My boss's iced tea put out the fire, but I was subsequently fired. Think she would have had a better sense of humour... whoops

I worked for the law firm where my mom worked - I prepared files for microfilming, relieved the receptionist for breaks, made copies, filed documents, archived closed files on the microfilm camera, etc. I started that at about age 10 or 11.

My teen years also saw me babysitting, working in the bakery at a local supermarket, and eventually nannying after high school.

Before graduation, it was just stuff like mowing lawns and such. When I got out of school at 18, it was the early 80's and the recession was so bad that nearly no one was hiring, not even fast-food chains. (Not an exaggeration.) So I didn't get a "real" job until I was 20, finally getting on at McDonald's. Technically, however, I wasn't a teenager anymore.

I was a caddie at an exclusive golf course that was close to my house. I learned a lot the very rich. Even though I came from an upper level section of society, it was humiliating. The only golfers that treated me kindly were the one's that knew who my parents were.
