Is it illegal to fake-throw a tennis ball at an oncoming speeding car?

Im not sure if it illegal or not but I once threw a shoe at one that was speeding through the residential area I live in(I have a small child). I figured they knew what they were doing was wrong so it was a chance they would have to take to turn me in!

I'd say "YES". Under circumstances where the driver and officer thought you had malicious intent or even just engaging in horseplay. The term "reckless endangerment" comes to mind. If the driver doesn't know what you are doing, the results could be serious or fatal, even to you. I've seen less threatening issues end up in court.
