As a dictator,Saddam led Iraq as head of the Baath Party, practiced one-party rule, censorship, instigated violence against Iraq's Shia, Kurdish, and Marsh Arab populations.   • I don't believe in the death penalty. It's murder, period. I do however, believe he deserved a lifetime of punishment. His last minutes were excrutiating I'm sure, but isn't a lifetime of punishment more effective than a few minutes?
  • It was barbaric by our standards, but discrete and final justice in the eyes of the Iraqi. It is an education to see Islamic justice in action. How better to demonstrate the differences in our cultures? The World Court should have handled the trial for greater credibility.
