Not tryin to be a smart@ss, but it's Jimi not Jimmy. Anyway, no one really knows why. I just finished his biography, Room Full of Mirrors. It said that, when he was 4, he would dance around his parents' kitchen with his broom (holding it like a guitar) and he said hwe could hear sounds in is head from it. Also, at concerts, he sometimes took LSD, which made him more creative

JImi Hendrix was a revolutionary and a pioneer. He took the Blues and fused them with many other influences, such as Jazz, Soul, and even Classical music. He also pioneered the use of feedback and excessive distortion to create a sound that until then no one had attempted before. Here's "Voodo Chile" one of my favorites:
