Are people really starting to see that emo bands, like My Chemical Romance (kings of emo), are stupid and just plain posers?

I don't see anyones type of music as really stupid or see anyone as a loser; I may not like that type of music, but it's by no means any of those things, I just have a different taste for music.

Okay first of all; You can't classify the entire musically educated world as "People". Everyone thinks different things. I agree that some people do see "emo bands" like My Chemical Romance stupid and poser-ish. But they know NOTHING about the band, don't understand the lyrics, nothing. I LOVE My Chemical Romance, and I know they are not stupid and are not posers. Writing lyrics is such a personal and difficult thing, you can't be a poser when you write about what you feel. And MCR writes about what they feel, and that means they're not posers. Poser is trying to be something you're not, lying in the lyrics. . You can write about a situation you haven't been through, but not a lie. [Like "You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison".] Wow that was alot of explaining. Honestly, I don't know what "people" think. But I know that My Chemical Romance and the bands they are associated with are not stupid, and are not posers.

Some do. Some don't. I don't think you wanna call them posers, because maybe they are just themselves and it's the world that calls them emo.

My Chemical Romance aren't even emo in the first place and any one can see anyone as a poser. You could see me as a poser, I could see you as a poser. It just depends on your viewpoint. However, a lot of people kind of are because bands like My Chem are getting a lot of fame, like how the video for "Famous Last Words" was number one on TRL today. They're seeing them as posers because they have no idea about the actual bands and people; they are just looking at them singing about not fitting in and stuff [See "I'm Not Okay"], but being at the top. They think they're just going off of what sells and they automatically assume that they're posers. In the end, if you don't know anything about a certain person or band, you are likely to think that they are posers.

My Chemical Romance is for sure NOT emo. They are simply...mainstream rock. They aren't poseurs, because, clearly, they haven't ripped off and tried to duplicate a form of writing, or music. They aren't stupid either. You have your opinions, and everyone else has theres. To claim something so general like that is like shoving a religion down someones throat. Obviously you are ignorant and know nothing of the term 'personal-preferance'. Not everyone is going to think something is stupid and poseurish. Every band is always going to have the haters and the lovers. If you hate a style of music, or a band, why waste your time trying to convince people who LIKE the music that they suck. [AGAIN, its all preferance]. Why don't you get on with your life and forget about them and never listen to them again? Or is having something in the world that you don't like too much to live? Honestly.

There are good emo bands and bad emo bands, just like anything else. I, for one, think My Chemical Romance is technically good. If you are looking for good emo and you don't like My Chemical Romance, please try Chiodos. If you have a closed mind, you can ignore me.

anyone that thinks My Chemical Romance is punk hasnt heard anything yet. Listen to sum of AFI's old music. THATS punk. so yea. mcr is pretty much just emo trying to get sumwhere... they started out as experimental metal... now they just are pop-emo like.

HOW DARE YOO. mcr are not emo, ur worse than the bluddy daily mail. They do not encourage that stuff but the oposite and yh people are starting to like mcr coz they save lives and get their message across in a good clear way. If people thimnk they are emo then they are just judgmental because this is not true. They describe themselves as punk/rock/metal which is a much better definition! so be nice pwese x x

this question is stupid!! i typically like punk music (anything from rancid to old AFI to the saints to lower class brats) and i looovveee my chemical romance!! i define a poser as someone who lies about what music they really like and dress differently to how they'd really like to. by the way, i wouldnt refer to my chemical romance as emo, especially not the new album

Again, like other people were saying, this is a pretty DUMBASS question, this is just you posting your own (in my opinion ignorant) opinion and making people mad. Well, nice job.
