Yes. About 10 years ago my mum was in hospital and had been for a few weeks, I visited her every day straight after work. This particular day, I got the bus from work as usual and it was pretty cold and had started to snow, but by the time I reached the hospital, it had got really quite windy and the snow was getting thick on the ground. and but I wasn't worried, because where I live (UK Manchester) snow never really gets THAT bad. Finished visiting, and it was like the Ice Age. No taxis, buses, trains, all public transport had been stopped for safety reasons, the cars on the road had all been abandoned because the snow was so bad on the roads. So I decided to walk home, thinking it's not that far - 4 miles. I was wearing trainers (sneakers) jeans and a denim jacket. I did make it home, it took 3 hours. I have never felt as cold as I did that day.

I'm from Northern Illinois, and have experienced -40 Degrees F (w/ wind chill) before. This would freeze the boggers in your nose, and freeze your hair to ice if you didn't dry your hair after a shower. Then I moved to Georgia. I have never felt a cold like the cold in Georgia. Maybe it's the humidity ( I know how to dress for cold), but this is the absolute first time in my life I felt my bones cold, it's like the cold goes right through everything. I dress in 40 degree temps in Georgia, the same way I would dress in 20 degree temps in Northern Illinois. WEIRD

The perception of cold is mysterious. 58 degrees f seems like a luke warm beverage. But this is the typical temperature of well water in typical climates. If you dive into a pool of 58 degree f water it takes your breathe away. It hurts! The coldest I have ever felt was wading in Rick's Spring, a Rocky mountain snow melt spring that felt like ice water in July. That wade lasted about 15 seconds, 10 seconds too long!

Oh yes! Those of us with arthritis or those who have had surgery on their bones, we know that feeling all to well. It doesn't even have to be ice cold for us to feel it. And, yes, it hurts.

I am warm on the outside and cold on the inside? My bones (spine particularly) feel soooo cold. Why??? I feel that I am freezing from the inside out? Hmmm. Can anyone shed a light on this? Thanks, MEP
