  • The first and so far only black quarterback to win the Superbowl is Doug Williams, who led the Washington Redskins to a 42-10 win over the Denver Broncos at Superbowl XXII (1988). He also won the MVP award for that particular game. (Note - there are some black quarterbacks who have Superbowl rings for being back-ups who didn't take the field, so I guess they technically 'won' a Superbowl... but I am ignoring these since I'm not sure they really count as significant achievements)
  • Doug Williams is the only one that counts because he started, finished, and contributed to the win. He was on a good team however because that same team won again with the guy who replaced him, Mark Rypien. The question is, since then how many have played in the big game and won? There were opportunities. McNair who was just short of winning, McNab who had a great year with T.O. There were certainly enough black QB's to get there. Where was McNair in the first half of his game? Where was McNab in his game at all; it wasn't the same guy? Until another guy wins, and another, and another; there will continue to be criticism, just like for white basketball players winning in the NBA today. Now ask yourself why there was a movie that made fun of white basketball players (see White Men Can't Jump) If the same thing happened for (Black QB's Can't Throw), there would be cries of racism. White Men Can't Jump is Racist!!!!So is REDSKINS!!! Let's talk about those things, my brothers!!!Don't be a hypocrite!!
