Can a minor at the age of 17 leave home without parent consent in the state of New Mexico?

    Legally? Yes, but it's never pretty.

    A minor can be emancipated as early as age 16 but it does take a judge's order and it's pretty tough to prove unless you've lost the family home or been kicked out. Also, if you're married but under age 18 you're also allowed to leave home without a parent's consent.

    A teen can also be removed from a home due to repeated, documented physical abuse, or for being convincted of a crime and sentenced to incarceration.
