  • Food banks are usually privately or church run and therefore laws do not apply to them but yes they can..they do around here. Food in this economy is hard to buy and the food banks are very limited in the amount of food they recieve/buy so they can limit it. It would be nice if every person who really needed assistance could get enough food for a month every month but around here, you get food 1x every 3 months and then it lasts about 2 weeks. Sad that people do not support organizations like that but they expect food stamps/welfare to help the person out and people that have never been on welfare do not realize that most people on welfare that have disability/soc. sec. get about $20 a month in food stamps.
