  • Mr and Mrs would be appropriate. The only thing that would change is if the doctor was being officially recognized because of her doctorate in a formal situation. Mr Bill
  • It would be proper etiquette to use Dr.s John and Jane Doe. They have earned the express right to be called doctor. Unless they inicate to you that it's ok to use Mr and Mrs. you should always respect the the fact that they are doctors.
  • If the wife has the professional title (and not the husband), use "Dear Dr. and Mr. Doe", or "Dear Dr. Jane Doe and Mr. John Doe" (her title and name first). For the address line, use Dr. Jane Doe Mr. John Doe (address)
  • Of course if you were writing to English people you would write Mr & Mrs John Doe (Notice the absence of full-stops.) The rule in British English is that a full-stop follows an abbreviation only if the last letter of abbreviation is different from the last letter of the abbreviated word. Hence Dr Jane Doe, and Prof. John Doe.
