The minimum first-innings lead to permit the follow-on depends on the number of days remaining in the match when it starts: 5 or more days - 200 3 or 4 days - 150 2 days - 100 1 day - 50 So, for example, if the first day of a Test match was rained off then the follow-on could be enforced with a lead of less than 200, as long as it was not less than 150.
