  • The minute they fight, they are no longer monks of anything no matter what they choose to believe. Chrstianity like all great spiritual gifts is always there for the searching.
  • I just saw the story, monks fighting at the traditional site of Christ's crucifixion :-( Not much hope nope.
  • "Christian" can be interpreted many ways by different people. Sad, but true. I hope the monks stop and read together and also pray together.
  • The only Christianity they are threatening is their own. :(
  • You just have to look at the USA.
  • Maybe not for a couple of monks but yes for Christianity. First, read the good book. Underline the bit that says, "You will know them by what they do." Also understand that "Shit happens to everyone." It's easy to stay out of a fight if you let the enemy over power you ... A world class Formula one champion may crash his car at 300kph and die in a molten fire ball. Are we then to say, "Well he just crashed his car so obviously he didn't know how to drive in the first place!"? Do we neglect his previous 20 years of racing experience purely because of one mistake? Or look at the other end of the scale. Do we say that F1 drivers don't exist because the only one we met turned out to be a braggart at the pub and not a racer at all? "You will know them by what they do." We don't know that much.
  • i like you i mean i really like you... you ask some of the coolest questions and i like answering them too. but yes there is always hope for christianity because no matter whats going on around us or in this crazy world christianity will be the way of life that stands in the end .
  • Christianity is built on a tradition of violence, so I doubt some monks having a scrap will effect anything very much. Two down rates....excellent, must have hit a raw nerve. Honestly though, look at all the fighting in the bible...any of them come to that. Since then there have been so many religion supported wars and conflicts that to say that religion has a tradition of violence would be perfectly reasonable.
  • true christianity is defined by one thing. the bible says that "by the love" that they would show among themselves would they be identified as having the one true religion. (john 13:35) thus when these so-called christian religions war among themselves they are identifying themselves as false religions. the apostle john said in 1john 3:10-12: "the children of God and the children of the devil are evident by this fact: everyone who does not carry on righteousness does not originate with God, neither does he who does not love his brother. for this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should have love for one another; not like cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother. and for the sake of what did he slaughter him? because his own works were wicked, but those of his brother were righteous." the religion that lives by this code, and that religion does exist, is the one that is the true religion.
