  • I don't think so. It's the difference between data, information, knowledge, and insight... yes, we have a lot more data now, but being able to make sense of it still takes intelligence, creativity, and lots of work. Don't see any way for that to go away.
  • Absolutely not. On the contrary, probably more important. It is the job of the historian to filter the information, whether is be a trickle from the distant past or a flood from today, to produce an understanding of "why" from a huge number of "whats". There are untold numbers of recording of Pres G W Bush, but it will be up to historians in future decades to say how good or bad he was, and how much his actions helped and harmed America and the world. The raw facts need interpreting - and some time after they happened.
