do not walk.

Have you seen a doctor. It sounds like it is getting worse so if i were you I would ask him to come round to your home

Same problem here about 6 months ago, bad sprain and still giving problems, I've self diagnosed a 'stress fracture' which because it wasn't treated at the time takes very much longer to heal. Take extra care how you walk, strap it when needed and wait for lots of time to heal it. Bit of a bummer really, isn't it? :o)

Get thee to an ER and have it x-rayed!
-
you should do some sprained ankle rehab exercises
-
stay off of it, or wrap it so it it supported enough that you stop falling onto it. The soft tissue is damaged and inflamed, and the only cure for that tissue to heal is time and rest....(rest for the foot...not bed rest for you) If you keep falling onto it, you are going to do damage that may possibly require surgery. PLEASE do not use the Emergency Room for this condition...this is NOT an emergency. If you need medical care, go to the doctor

Tha ankle supports the whole body and should have enough time to heal properly. If you keep walking on it, it can't heal. There are groups of muscles that all work together to enable you to walk. If one of them can't work, the others don't work properly--thus your falling. I would find a doctor that works with sports injuries to have check it and see how badly you've damaged the ankle. After it is healed, you may want to see a massage therapist (one that does more therapeutic work) to work on strengthening the weak muscle so they are all equally toned and can work properly to prevent further injuries. BUT, definately keep your weight off of it, using crutches or a cane.

Same thing happened to me. Blue halfway up my leg and ligaments were stretched too. Keep a wrap on it as long as you feel wobbly. I got one of these night splints, http://cgi.ebay.com/Healwell-Night-Splint-for-Plantar-Faciatis-FLA-58-409_W0QQitemZ290272655985QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item290272655985&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A570|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 forcing it to stretch at night. Do the ankle stretching exercises as well as you can. Go to the point of pain, and then 1 millimeter more. GO a little more every time. Stretch it out in hot water. Do them in the shower. http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/Handouts/anklesprain/anklesprain.html http://www.epodiatry.com/ankle-sprain.htm

You need to strenghthen and stretch the mustles around the boo boo slowly with good insoles so as to keep your foot in alignment. Same thing happend to me, and alignment can mean the difference between months and years in healing time. Don't wear cheap shoes and buy some high quality orthapedic insoles, just until your anckle can comfortabley support your fine self once more. ;]

Sprains are very tricky. I had a similar problem with my left wrist. I actually sprained it twice over the course of 1.5 year and it took another full year to fully heal.
-
I was told I had a sprained ankle once. I went to my orthopedic surgeon and he found that I tore all the ligaments in my ankle. Have you had a second opinion?
-
Go get it checked. You may have torn some ligaments.
