Just got a warning from AVG about, trojan horse generic 12.HTC, haven't heard of it, anyone out there hear if this one? apparently it infects explore.exe, and after months of explore.exe crashing I'd say it's a legit virus

Here is a good, free trojan remover. It is only free for an evaluation time but you can unload and reload and get more evaluation time. http://www.soft82.com/download/Windows/TrojanHunter
    Good luck

I had it on mine the other day and about 6-7 more. I would delete them and they would pop up again. I finally had to have a service repair guy come and get them all off. .. I had that same virus pop up about 8 times in 12 hours despite me deleting it. GL. you may have to take it to a repair shop

had similar experience avg 8 wouldnt let me update itself also could not update windows from microsoft site - I downloaded a copy of Trojan Remover 7.6.7 from www.simplysup.com/tremover/download.html - It found the trojan and informed me the DNS network had been changed as well. The trial version removed and fixed the above you get a 30 day trial but it does the job, hope it helps.

I got that message this morning too.

I can't see how it's got onto my machine because I've just picked my laptop up from a PC repair shop where they were deleting a virus called 'AVG antivirus 2009' (or something similar).

The first thing I did once I'd got the laptop back was download AVG 8.0 free edition and as soon as I'd done that, AVG found this Trojan.

I keep opting to heal it or move it to the vault but I keep getting an error message saying that some files aren't accessible (or something similar).

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

I had this warning twice a couple of days ago during an AVG scan, I removed them ok using AVG.
I have recently started downloading music from Tesco and the viruses were located in the Tesco Download Manager software, could these viruses actually come with the music I downloaded or do they just hide themselves wherever they can?
