  • Hear hear! I've been saying this for months. It is rife with abuse.
  • I know, people tell me not to worry about it cause it really gets my blood pressure arising. I keep getting DRted on normal questions. I don't understand their logic.
  • If people would only use it for answers/questions that are truly unhelpful (not just because you don't agree with their opinion) it would work. Since they don't I would also like to see it go.
  • Are you kidding? Do you realize that some folks around here actually get off on that stuff? Taking it away from them would be like taking the bottle away from an alcoholic
  • I actually have to agree with you. If the downrating system is eliminated, we don't have to hear you all bitch anymore. Also, the only people who downrate anymore are people who want to aggravate others.
  • I don't think that will ever happen. Some people abuse the DR and do not use it as intended. The good news is, they're just points and they are worth zip, zilch, nothing. I unchecked the ratings box in my profile a long time ago :)
  • How does DRing hurt anyone? If you base your worth on points you need help.
  • I used to feel the same way, but I'm beginning to see the value of leaving it intact and anonymous. Sure, there are trolls, that is a fact of life on the internet, but everyone has a right to express disagreement with any statements made here. The simplest way is the DR. Those with integrity will claim and justify theirs and sometimes even open constructive dialog. It's best not to wear your feelings on your sleeve when expressing your opinion in a public forum. Freedom of speech is a two-edged sword.
  • I just gave every answer plus 2 :-) and I see it as a slightly inefficient way of expressing disappointment or whatever with a question I think that there should be a system where if five or more separate people make a referral then you lose a certain amount of points this would be more constructive in my opinion. Peace
  • I think it kind of keeps it interesting to know that there are trolls out there and a few people that think that their opinion is so much superior to anyone else's that they will downrate an answer. There are also people who just like to give points so there is a balance. But, it's not about the points. It's about being able to help, express opinion, partake in intelligent dialogue. Just the give and take with others which is really one of the greatest joys in life. That's why I love AB!
