  • LOL I wonder why the "news" media isn't interviewing any of the people who were devastated by yesterday's outcome. According to some, there were large crowds of people who wept in public over O'drama's win. Go figure.
  • What do you expect? Do you think it's that easy to disuade 87% of the population of their deep-rooted and long-seeded delusions?
  • That is a great question. I have noticed the media keeps showing us the electoral college votes and calling this a "landslide." It was not a huge margin in the popular vote.
  • I was surprised myself that it was that close, and thought Obama would win by at least 10 points. Some people will vote their own party line no matter how useless the party is.
  • There are about 20%-25% of the population who have what social scientists call an "authoritarian" mind. To such people, loyalty to the Authority Figure is more important than just about anything else, so the fact that reality continually contradicts their beliefs is of no consequence. http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2007/09/03/sowell/index.html There is also another segment of the population (the size of which I cannot estimate) that has quasi-authoritarian tendencies. To such people, the virtues of "thrift" and "self-reliance" and "discipline" are the most important ones. So they are attracted to the 'framing' off political issues in this manner, and the GOP has mastered the language and psychology of doing so. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/george-lakoff/the-palin-choice-and-the_b_123012.html Then you add in the 6 million to 8 million votes that the GOP probably stole/lost/'spoiled'/'caged'/'purged'/'challenged' in the election. http://www.gregpalast.com/7-easy-steps-to-steal-back-your-vote/#more-2140 ...and there you have your 'narrow' landslide.
  • 41% of Americans believed that Palin is capable of being president. 25% of Americans believed that Obama was Muslim 1/3 of Americans would never vote for an African American under any circumstances The miracle is that he won so handily despite the odds.
