I'd really like to know why the abortion did not take place and why she's being tried as an adult when she wasn't one Then I'd be able to start thinking about this question, but I'd probably come up with a lot more questions than answers

what a sad & tragic story - the mother was only 17, little more than a child, she had not told her boyfriend or family about the pregnancy so went through the whole ordeal alone. Clearly she was not of sound mind when she killed the child. I think that being tried as an adult for 1st degree premeditated murder is btoo harsh. She should not be allowed to walk away from this freely but I do think that she should receive an awful lot of professional Psychiatric care for as very long time

you make your bed now lay in it...she should be tried as an adult even if she was only 17 taking someones life is a seriously matter. Teens always want to be treated like adults so face the consequences like adults, when a serious situation arises now their just kids now they want to be treated like kids. When i was 15 i was helping my 18yr old sister raise her daughter my niece so she can finish school it was tough for me cause i didnt know squat about taking care of a child but guess what you man up and take care of that child the way they should be taken care of. Im 26 now and a mother of a beautiful 18m old being a mother is hard work but you suck it the fuck up and do right by that child you dont murder your child because the baby is crying inconsolably there are other opinions like adoption or abortion i guess.
