As an X Marine and USArmy both, the Marines are by far the better choice.

I believe bad things happen because good people fail to resolve political,and economical problems because the logistics is lacking,sheer chaos,environmental factors,time,sleep deprivation,war in General one man falls and his off spring rises for vengeance.People loose benevolence for the world when everything they loved in life is destroyed.The sons and daughters of men are here to face the enemies others have created for them.I'ts a hard concept to grasp when your playing with fire you keep throwing on gas eventually you get burned with the big blast.Then you got the you know it's time for us to step it up,another level now cause we are finished warming up,so we rise up elevate to maintain fill up with octane and fan the flame we regain all the names the enemy took away and like the green bureau we will lead the way,into battle so have no fear we will draw near so that we can persevere and like a gondolier we are heading straight for the top non stop setting shop at the top of the rock,you'll feel the after shock if you forgot these soldiers wont turn and walk they take hard knox come back for more so hard core they fight for the ones who died for you and me.And like Baghdad there on the front lines and they will carry on till the end times.So now that its on they are out in the front of the Marathon with their motors on stay strong and drive home pushing on till they reach the top and you know they wont stop.Like pillar,welcome to the Machine.This life is short innocent people who were afflicted as casualties was a response in defending live of Country men surrounding the field of war.Prepare for Armageddon war is an ongoing conflict and there is no peace during war till you take the last breath or have that last memory.

My brothers in arms in the Marine Corps are top notch people without a doubt in my mind. But personally, the absolute BEST, the very PINNACLE, the most HONORABLE are hands down the subMARINErs! (Sorry, my brother Marines! I couldn't resist!) Honestly, as a fighting force the are without peer and loaded with honor. There is a reason they are only "Looking for a few good men"...because those few good men are all they need to make all the difference in the world. Simper Fi.

I served with the Marines in Iraq, definately a proud, tough and honorable group of men and women. I would definately support your Cousin. Semper Fi.

I think that anyone brave enough to fight for their country and fight for the freedom that our forefathers set forth for us, is a "decent" person. I guess I don't understand the "decent part of the armed forces" part fo the question. Marines are very honorable, as well as the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Marines can be crazy, psychotic individuals but when you want a job done, and well done, you can ask for no better than a Marine!

I have never met a Marine I didnt like. One friend, a Lance Corporal liked to go out of his way to salute officers. I was in the USNavy, I learned to like saluting officers. When I was a Gate Guard, we saluted the car as it came through the gate.

An old joke goes, "They say you can always tell a Marine, but you can't tell them much." I have the utmost respect for those who are willing to put their life on the line to protect people. Military, police, firefighters, etc... It truly takes a rare breed.

It depends on the person

I am in the Army myself, but in spite of the inter-service rivalry, the respect is there. Less than one percent of US citizens join the military, and those who do face the toughest career field in the world. Long periods of time without family; tough blood, sweat and tears training, and the possibility of dying from all sorts of injuries, and I that is in the training environment in preparation for the real thing. When the military goes to war you have all that magnified. The blood of these men have bought the freedoms we enjoy for centuries. GOD BLESS YOUR COUSIN, HE HAS JOINED AN HONORABLE PROFESSION AND IS WORTHY OF RESPECT AND GRATITUDE. GOD BLESS EVERY LAST ONE THESE FINE MEN, REGARDLESS OF BRANCH!!! THEY DESERVE FAR BETTER HONOR THAN THEY EVER RECEIVE, BECAUSE THOSE WHO ENJOY THE FREEDOM NEVER SEE THE PAIN THAT BRINGS IT.

Each branch of the service has it's good and bad apples, and I couldn't characterize one branch as worse than the other.

We are SEMPER FI!! First to fight! The president's own! The badest mofo's EVER! I am totally biased. Honestly, I respect all of the branches for what they do. The Marines are really great as a whole. However, I would point out that the Army Rangers, SEALS, and of course the Navy Corpsmen (that spend their days with us Jarheads), are amazing and should be and given the proper respect they have earned.
