Astrology is older than Christianity. Many religions are based in Astrology. There is an interesting propaganda movie floating around the internet titled "Zeitgeist the Movie". I believe I've seen it discussed here on AB as well. The first part of the movie is about the connections to different religious characters and the early charting of stars, planets, and constellations. I think a person who is unsure or skeptical about God and/or Jesus Christ, might find this movie very persuasive. I believe it's a choice, just like some believe in their Gods or Higher Powers.

They are probably looking for meaning in their lives. I personally think it's hogwash.

because its recreation for some and its a glimpse into the mystic for others. i believe astrology is one of many roadmaps that given to us mere mortals to glimpse the divine plan and try to understand the forces that might be working for or against us at any given point in time. i believe it can help one weigh the best course of action in our lives. i find natal charts to be fascinating and have found too many patterns in my life and in others lives coinciding with astrological paradigms to discount it completely. astrology has been studied for centuries. many asian cultures still practice it religiously ~ chinese astrology and ayurvedic astrology in india are two examples that come to mind. western astrology has also had a tremendous following. many great scientists and minds throughout human history have also been proponents or scholars of astrology...pythagoras, aristotle, plato, tyco brahe, karl jung, johannes kepler, nicolaus copernicus, galileo galilei. i dont consider them to be prone to flights of fancy or mental slouches either. they were students of astronomy, mathematics, physics and/or metaphysics. i believe everything in the universe is interconnected. astrology is just a means of interpreting the effects of the planetary forces & pulls on us through the mechanics of mathematics. honestly ~ who here among us can say that the power of the full moon has no effect on their psyche? i would say the naysayers are sleepwalking through life. astrology is an art and a science that can help us connect us to the intrinsic nature of the universe and free ourselves from our dependence on externalities ~ it can help connect us to our inner souls. it helps us understand the seasons and cycles of our lives. it also teaches that whatever we reap we shall sow and when. each cycle in our life has its own meaning and its own purpose. an understanding of our natal chart helps us to know what cycles are operating and the right time to launch out into an activity or wait until the cosmic tides change. the birth chart is calculated for the time when we take our first breath, for it is here that the soul merges with body and our life begins. it is the soul which decides when the timing is right and is compatible with its spiritual purpose. physicists have found that over 95% is invisible. how can one presume to understand the invisible forces at work in the universe? do you truly know the nature of the implicate order of the universe?

I believe because we, like all things universal, are delicately hung in the balance.

if you had a professional birth-chart done you would find out some very interesting things indeed. the other planets have significant effects on our planet according to their position in relation to ours. the horoscopes in the newspapers everyday...those are general and very ambiguous...dont write it off completely because of a few columns in the tabloids and glamour magazines. go and have a proffessional astrological profile done.

All the esoteric arts only exist because of beliefs. Just like belief in religion and spiritualism! But being an animal in the physical and material world we require physical proofs, which these may not offer.

So when reading the characteristics of a person born in the same month as you, you honestly can't see the similarities? And these are most of the time not vague at all...irrational vs. rational, stubborn vs. passive, impulsive vs. well thought out, introvert vs. extrovert... This is not to say that I follow it to plan my daily activities or read horoscopes...but I do believe the time of the year that you were born (the actual day more specifically) makes a big difference in who you become. No matter how much your parents try to bend you to their "right" direction or your environment tries to influence you, some things are just deep inside of you. This doesn't mean that they can't be overcome with hard work if they are bad, but they are what makes up at least half, if not more, of our personality.
