A US soldier's job is to obey orders and to defend people's rights and the United States. It doesn't matter if the soldier likes the Commander in Chief or not because the soldier is suppose to be a trained professional and perform the job as such.

Obama seems like a stronger and more stable person than McCain does (regardless of whether he has served in the military or not) so when that happens, the soldiers should be fine with it (and I'm sure they will be because I'm sure most will recognize these qualities in him).

Your conservative view is refreshing, but even if he does get into office, we're still supposed to respect him no matter how hard it may be to do. To me it will be like swallowing shards of glass after walking ten miles in the desert at high noon.

I think he will be well-respected by our military. I would have a hard time saluting a president who can't form a complete sentence. But hey, that's just me.
