In theory you are seeing the counselor in a private setting where a presumption of confidentiality would be assumed. If the details of your sessions have leaked out in the coffee break room to the person in charge of the services you are seeking then I would question their ethics and possibly the legality of their actions. The determination of this however is subject to the exact nature of the agreement with the counselor and the exact nature of the assistance you are seeking.
