You probably need a more sophisticated graphics editing program, but they tend to be very expensive and have a steep learning curve. Gimpshop is similar to Paintshop Pro, but it's free:

You need software with the "Panarama" feature (or even try it with Layers). Search the About.com site at:
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pixelbasedwin/tp/freephotoedw.htm
They have listings of free and commercial programs with reviews and tutorials.
Also, check utube.com for the software that interest you. They have video tutorials.

I need to send pictures to a publisher in 300 dpi. My windows vista is set at 200 dpi. Will I need a special software to make the change?

You're reading PHOTO EDITING...HOW CAN (2) PICTURES BE OVERLAPPED on Top of Each Other to BECOME ONE PICTURE...WITHOUT INSERTING ...and... WHAT PROGRAM do I Use/Need??? I have 2 pieces of a Totem Pole with only Paint, Photo2Album Image, and Lexmark Image programs.
