  • I believe that goes back to Henry VIII.
  • I don't know? I hear other religions going through some problems. I guess its because Catholics are represented as a whole we have a church leader. When a non-Catholic church has scandal its really only heard in the City or state then forgotten.
  • They discrimated against other relgions. Purtins, Quakers, Jews as well as Catholics. I think we where pointed out most since we had cycoe women be our queen and then the human elment of revange came after Catholics when she died.
  • History as far as I am aware. Not entirely sure but it probably goes back to the Glorious Revolution when James II/VII(Scotland) was deposed and you can trace the animosity back further than that. However I think that's when the law was changed to completely exclude Catholics from the succession. Of course there were other offices that Catholics were banned from which have since reverted back to allowing Catholics such as Members Of Parliament if memory serves. Even Tony Blair had to wait until he had left office to come out of the closet... I mean convert. It's wrong of course, there should be no disbarring of anyone from public office of any kind due to religion or lack thereof.
