yeah, the first Saw movie. I didn't know the plot nor the motives behind the contraptions and the main villain, which made the movie a lot more scary.

I loved them all and bought them on DVD I can't hardly wait until 5 is sold on dvd.

The first Saw was definitely my favorite. I considered it to be a very smart, and somewhat groundbreaking film for the entire genre. The rest were just variations on a theme.

5 is the best. I saw it last night. It explains everything and ties all of the movies together with a thread you would never expect.

I would have to say the first one just for it's originality and for having one heckuva surprise ending. 2&3 were pretty entertaining but lacked any real surprises. By number 4, they were becoming predictable and a little redundant. Part 5 is a total mess in my opinion and I actually hope they end with Part 6 because the overall storyline of the entire series is becoming kind of absurd.
