  • Okay ITEM, laptop. Like a lot of other people.
  • ONE ITEM...not a person or animal.
  • I guess I would throw as much into my purse as possible and take that. Everything I own is in there anyway.
  • Definitely my laptop. My whole life is on it somewhere, if I can find it.
  • My toe-nail clipper. It is very high quality and very special to me.
  • I have a special "getaway quick bag": Leather duffle type thing, with photos of all I own on CD's (antiques and regular stuff), a PDA with much info in it, a cel phone (extra to the one I carry) some money in traveler's checks, 2 disposable digital cameras, extra keys, 2 weeks supplies of all the medications I take, as well as copies of important documents and papers, etc. It would make sure I wasn't starting over from scratch and help me get things alot miore quickly from insurance, etc.
  • My dynamite/explosives collection.......
  • Please don't make fun of me for this, lol, but probably my stuffed dog that I've had since a baby. I was going to say my bible, but I could always just buy a new one.
  • This is really hard. I have a lot of stuff with lots of memories in it. I would say my memory box it has stuff from my sisters death, her photos, my baby photos, stuff from my prgnancy and my miscarriage, tons of stuff. It will make me go home and make sure all of my important stuff is in that one box. lol!
  • My mother's jewelry box AND my album of baby pictures she made. They are right beside each other, so I'd have no need to choose.
  • I'd say my camera, but since my camera (and backup digital) are in my car pretty much at all times, they wouldn't need rescuing. I'd get my flute. It is worth a lot to me, in terms of sentimental and monetary value. In fact, it's worth more than my car in both arenas...
  • my laptop its got every thing on it
  • It would have to be my 400 disc cd changer.atleast with that, all the songs i have on all of them cds will always pop up a memoryfrom my past or something.ontop of me having a pfotographic memory.
  • Probably my teddy bears (there are 2, but they're always together) Becasue my mum made one for me, and had her voice recorded into the other, so they are very special to me. Other than that maybe my external hardrive because I have just uploaded ALL my photos (what I hope to do at uni) onto it, and would be in deeeep sh*t if i lost them all.
  • My trusty laptop and big bag of disks and other things I keep actually for storage, but it is all important stuff that I would grab in a fire. So I'd take them together.
  • The big 'family box'. The family box we have is this amazing treasure trove of mine and Katie's (my sisters) stuff from when we were little. The things we made, all the baby pictures, all the family pictures, and my great nan's (lovely woman) antique mirror she adored. This box even has me on film at 2 years old with my mum, sister and DAD! (A real miracle) I was so gosh darn cute! Where did it all go wrong... Anyway, the box is the box that reminds me of why I love my family in the end (my family being my sis and my mum) and there are a lot of good memories that get lost in the bad ones still preserved in there
  • My unfinished painting of Elvis. I WILL finish it one day.
  • A wooden cigar box my dad made back in the early 50's by hand.
  • Easy-the lockbox containing all my official documents like birth cert, passport etc. God only knows in this post 9/11 era what hell I would have to go through to replace them. Probably involves an anal probe, DNA testing and a lie-detector test.
  • the most expensive thing i could find on my way out, that or some pants, i dont want to be running around naked with a blazing inferno behind me as a back drop... actually can i grab my keys and wallet and phone? i mean theyre usually all next to eachother! .... stuff the fire man, id drag my PC out too lol
  • The photo album with the only few pictures I have of my father who was killed in a car accident when I was an infant.
  • My teddy bear. This sounds strange because I am in my 20s, but I still sleep with him every night. I suppose that is one of my weird traits, lol.
  • If my guinea pig was already safe, then I would have to grab my iPod I think. Took me so long to upload my music collection to it, I'm damned if I'm wasting that effort! That would keep 4500 of my tunes safe for future listening, most other things I own are in small enough quantities that I could replace them without a huge amount of hassle and expense... the exception would be books, but since I couldnt possibly carry all those out without dying a smoky death, I'm choosing the iPod.
  • My Bible or My Dogs.
  • Man I got this steel box thta I use in emergency's like this, its a quick sweep of getting things in there, my PS2, my dvd's, my good clothes (I can't risk to lose the suit I wore on my grandfather's funeral)my Samsung T809, my portable dvd player, my games for the PS2, my turtle (Can't afford to lose him too, that little guy cost me ten bucks!) My cash which will go in my pocket and some Dr. Pepper.
  • I actually had my roof catch on fire while I was sleeping and my instinct (or Guardian Angel) woke me up. Perhaps subconsciously I heard the crackling of the fire in the attic. A squirrel had eaten into the insulation of a wire and shorted out the wire causing a fire. I grabbed my laptop, my cell phone, and my "portable strongbox” and went outside and called the fire dept. But since you said only one I would have to say my Laptop. My strongbox is fireproof and waterproof and I could bang on a neighbors door to call the fire dept. I do have all my files and pictures backed up on an external hard drive at another location, which I update about once a week as well.

  • Family photo album. I'd leave the gold and silver. --Yeah, I would.

  • If you don't count companion animals, my laptop computer would be it. I have duplicate records of nearly everything important I need to access.
  • Since I am assuming everyone is out by the word item... I would have to take my computer since it has all of my pictures saved in it including scanned ones from family and distant relatives.
  • Once I had saved my family, I would then save my notebook computer as it has all my digital photos, videos and is worth a bit!
