  • No, for many reasons, not least of which is the chronic problem that many people are wrongly convicted. Living in space is not only dangerous, it's the most expensive place to live. It costs millions of dollars per month for each person who spends time in the space station, for instance. Australia was once used as a British Penal colony, which was quite a bit more humane, given that it was possible for them to find food and shelter and make a new life there, and it wasn't outrageously expensive to transport them there, since the ships ran on wind power.
  • Plenty of movies on that subject matter. The only problem seems to be that when they revolt and take over the supply ship, they cause hell all over the galaxy
