His bladder may be underdeveloped, I am thinking only surgery could do anything for that issue.

First of all he needs to seek medical advice. The list of medical reasons for this is long and hopefully there is a fix. If for some reason it's mental, then psychotherapy or counseling may help. Either way it's better than doing nothing.

I don't want to rain on your parade, and if he has already not seen a doctor, of course he should go, but if he is wetting the bed at 17 it may well continue through adulthood. First off, bedwetting has many genetic markers that have to do with not only underdeveloped bladders but a hormone called ADH. I wet my bed just about every night until I was about 13, so did my older brother. My sister did until she was about 11. She stopped when she reached puberty, my brother and my bedwetting tappered off. He stopped for the most part by the time he was 18. I continued to some extent to this day. I still have bedwetting episodes 5 or more times per month. Generally when an adolescent reachs puberty the issues connected with his/her bedwetting will correct themselves. If they don't it is unlikely they ever will. It is what it is and should be treated no differently than any other chronic condition.

There is some form of nasal spray that I believe helps.

i am 26 a wet the bed alot as well as were diapers. try to not worry about it just support him and not help to much you will make him feel like a failure when he wets and lets you down. just love him for him and move on dont let a small problem or a diaper come between someone you love. I had a girlfriend that would actually put the diapers on me and wipe me off i was with her a long time. IF YOU WANT TO TALK PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT biggy_76009@yahoo.com i would like to chat with someone else who knows and is in love with someone that wets and how you feel about it? hope to hear from you soon.
