If you are looking for a job the pay will be VERY low because many companies that offer this service let the doctors dictate into a phone and then the recordings are sent to India by internet where people do the transcription for a few dollars an hour. The only way to make a living would be to go to local doctors offices and convince them to contract with you to do their transcription directly. This will take time and you must invest in technology to do the transcription and be prepared to bring the paper to the doctor's office every day, at least. Even then, the pay will be low because doctors are getting paid less and less per patient visit. . Have you looked at court reporting? I think that is a better choice.
