  • Don't sweat it. If you apply for a job as a university student they're going to look at it as a paid internship. Just be honest with them about what you do know and don't know. Tell them what you don't know you're eager to learn. Sometimes it's hard for first year students to get a job in their field, but if you work at it you can. Good luck.
  • I'm sure, if they are aware that you are still a student, they will view this summer position as more of an internship than a skilled position. Don't be nervous, just go for it! You will undoubtedly pick up some on-the-job training and the precious real-world experience that so many college graduates lack. It will be fun, educational, and most importantly, it will give you a huge advantage over other college grads when you get out of school and look for a "real" job. Just be honest, tell them you're a student and looking for a temporary position to gain experience. Be forthright about your existing skills, I'm sure you have plenty to offer. They will let you know their expectations (if there are any), and really-- nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it. :)
