  • Yes, read Milton instead. He was blind, but profound.
  • I think they are misunderstood. The Book of Revelation was written as a message to hope to the small group of Christians who were being oppressed by the Romans. It was hope that they would be liberated and freed and their oppressors would be punished. So I don't read into it a whole lot as a . I kind of loosely take a message of hope out of it (and some wicked metaphors). Paris is right, Milton is a better read.
  • He who wrote the Book of Revelations was not a simple random Christian. He was John the Apostle, also known as John the Evangelist, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ and his beloved disciple. He indeed wrote the aforementioned book exiled on the Greek island of Patmos when he was very old. Divine inspiration was given to him and he dictated it to his disciple who's name I can't remember. I cannot tell whether his writings are misunderstood or not, for I cannot tell if the actual writer, or others who copied it in order to preserve it, added his/their personal message to the original manuscript. Many have tried to interpret this book, but with poor results. Only history can do that and we will see if what is written is finally true. So far, so good.
